If someone beats you with a stick would you get angry at the stick?
No. Why?
Because the stick has no control over it's actions. In the same way the person who doesn't love you, that may try to harm you; that person is under the control of their anger. That person has no freedom. The person is a total slave to their anger. Therefore the right response is compassion. You must help the person find how to be free of their anger... to find peace. Its not true that you can meditate without working on your external or moral life. If you do not give shelter, food, love, justice to those in need, that is not practicing a moral life.
